Know Your Roots
In celebration of Earth Day, Gattertop Drinks is working with our partners The Herefordshire Wildlife Trust to launch the campaign Know Your Roots.
With an orchard that has been a part of the Herefordshire landscape since 1086, Gattertop farm is deep-rooted in the history of the area. That’s why we have partnered with a dedicated local organisation, The Herefordshire Wildlife Trust to support their mission statement “to make Herefordshire richer and more diverse in wildlife, bringing its people closer to nature”
Working closely with the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust helps us maintain our orchards in the best possible way, supporting the local ecosystem whilst also keeping us connected with the local community. We are constantly striving to measure and reduce our environmental footprint with sustainable business practices through considering our environment, and only taking what we need from it to make our delicious drinks. By joining forces we can maximise on our combined expertise and contacts to help educate, inspire and energise our community and beyond.
Know Your Roots is designed to be informational and educational, teaching people best practices when planting fruit trees, the benefits of planting fruit trees, and how to help maintain and preserve the wildlife around us throughout the year.
Earth Day 2022
The 2022 Earth Day theme poses the question; invest in your planet. What will you do?
With Earth Day bringing together more than 1 billion people, governments, institutions, and businesses to collectively recognise our responsibility to help accelerate the transition to an equitable, prosperous green economy for all. The campaign is focused on reframing the conversation, accelerating action, and bringing us together to understand that this is within our reach if we work together.
Why is Earth Day important to Gattertop Drinks?
Earth Day encourages people and businesses to reflect on their everyday practices and as a small business everything we do is constantly in review. How can we do it better, more efficiently and most importantly sustainably?
Gattertop Drinks is paving the way as a thought-leader in sustainable British spirits.
Our motto is “take what you need and leave the rest for future generations”. We want to preserve and look after what we have, committing to long term goals to improve the sustainability of the business moving forward.
This notion of preservation has become even more prevalent in recent years with orchards vanishing from the British landscape, losing an area the size of the Isle of Wight since 1900, according to research carried out by the National Trust.
Not only has the colourful display of springtime blossom been a part of British folklore and culture for centuries but orchards also provide a natural habitat for local wildlife and eco-systems that we do not want to see destroyed.
Sustainably driven and one of the first carbon-neutral drinks companies in the UK, we are committed to preserving and protecting the orchards, safeguarding the landscape and wildlife that we rely on to produce our meticulously crafted, organic vodka spirits.
